We appreciate the full cooperation of every participating family in adhering to our class policies.
Arrival
- Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled class time so your family can get situated. We have allowed additional time between classes for an easy, spacious arrival window.
- Classes are held at Flagg Road UCC at 134 Flagg Road, West Hartford, across the street from Westmoor Park.
- Park in the parking lot adjacent to the lawn where our classes take place.
Class Size
- Classes are limited to a maximum of 10 families.
- We recommend a maximum of two adults per family. If you have a special circumstance and would like to bring along visiting grandparents, etc. please notify us in advance (24 hours notice, please).
Mask Policy
- We do not require masks to be worn before, during or after our outside classes.
- If you would feel more comfortable wearing a mask at any time while at our outside classes, please do so!
Social Distancing
- Ground markers (spaced a minimum of 6 feet apart to provide social distancing) will indicate where families may place their blankets. When the temperatures and sun intensity increases, we will install individual family sun shade umbrellas around our semi-circle.
-
While families will be spaced apart, many parents and caregivers are now feeling more comfortable allowing their little ones to interact with other children and adults during class:
-
We want to be respectful of each family's comfort level, so our teachers will make available a small flag for families to grab and place in front of their blanket if they would prefer to maintain social distance.
-
For the health and safety of our teachers, we ask families to maintain 6 feet distance from our teachers while they are leading class. We encourage parents/caregivers to redirect their little ones in playful, musical ways. Our teachers are very happy to visit after class!
-
We ask all of our parents and caregivers to be active participants during class – not only in the music-making, but in helping everyone to feel safe and comfortable engaging in this dynamic, musical experience together. We always work to cultivate kind and considerate mini-communities in each of our classes and appreciate you being part of this effort!
- Please be extra diligent about listening to the music and learning the songs at home this semester! It will help you and your child connect to the class experience more deeply.
What to Bring
- A blanket and/or folding chairs.
- Water bottle, hand sanitizer, layers of clothing – plan for the weather and bring what you normally would for your family for a short outdoor activity.
- Your positive, playful, musical self and your love of being with your child, family and friends!
- Please refrain from using your cell phone during class. If you'd like to take a quick photo or video of you and/or your child during class, please do so quickly and limit it to your family members only. Then be sure to tuck your phone away so as not to disengage from class with your child!
Weather
- In the event of inclement weather (steady rain, high winds, threat of thunderstorms, heat or wind advisory, or at the discretion of our center director), class will be held on Zoom during the regularly scheduled class time. We will always err on the side of holding class outside unless it would be unsafe or unreasonably uncomfortable to do so.
Absences & Make-Ups
- If you need to miss class due to illness or conflict, please mark your absence in advance in the Family Portal.
- We offer unlimited make-ups in the Summer on an as-needed basis. These must be reserved in advance in the Family Portal on our website and your family must mark your absence in advance.
- Each outdoor class will have two designated make-up spots (we cannot guarantee a spot with an umbrella, but typically there's natural shade where we reserve space for make-ups), and families needing to miss class must mark their absence in the Family Portal, thereby making any additional vacant spots available for a family needing a make-up.
Bathroom
- There is a bathroom available to our class attendees inside the church (a short walk from the lawn to the door).
- We recommend everyone uses the bathroom at home right before coming to class. If you are potty training, you may want to bring a small potty for your child to use at your car or in a private spot away from our class area if needed.
Health Policy
- Do not come to class if you, your child or anyone in your household is sick with any kind of illness.
- If you have been in close contact or if you share a residence with someone who has developed an upper respiratory infection/cough/fever or has tested positive for Covid, please contact us as soon as possible so we can take appropriate measures.
- Monitor your health and the health of the members of your household daily (from the CDC website):
- Be alert for symptoms. Watch for fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19.
- Especially important if you are running essential errands, going into the office or workplace, and in settings where it may be difficult to keep a physical distance of 6 feet.
- Take your temperature if symptoms develop.
- Don’t take your temperature within 30 minutes of exercising or after taking medications that could lower your temperature, like acetaminophen.
- Follow CDC guidance if symptoms develop.
Contingency Plan for Change
- Should the public health situation worsen in our area during the session and outdoor classes required to cease, all outdoor classes will move to our Music Together Online format.
- Please note that if for any reason we need to revise any aspect of our policies, changes will be immediately communicated to participating families.
Cancellation Policy
- There will be no refunds or credits issued for any reason.
Privacy Policy
- We use your personal information for our internal business purposes only. We do not sell your personal information to any third parties.
